The solution

You have entered [src]
x + -2*x - 5 = 2*(3*x - 6)
$$x + \left(- 2 x - 5\right) = 2 \left(3 x - 6\right)$$
Detail solution
Given the linear equation:
x-(2*x+5) = 2*(3*x-6)

Expand brackets in the left part
x-2*x-5 = 2*(3*x-6)

Expand brackets in the right part
x-2*x-5 = 2*3*x-2*6

Looking for similar summands in the left part:
-5 - x = 2*3*x-2*6

Move free summands (without x)
from left part to right part, we given:
$$- x = 6 x - 7$$
Move the summands with the unknown x
from the right part to the left part:
$$\left(-7\right) x = -7$$
Divide both parts of the equation by -7
x = -7 / (-7)

We get the answer: x = 1
