The solution

You have entered [src]
3*(2*x - 4) = 2*x + -5*x - 9
$$3 \left(2 x - 4\right) = 2 x + \left(- 5 x - 9\right)$$
Detail solution
Given the linear equation:
3*(2*x-4) = 2*x-(5*x+9)

Expand brackets in the left part
3*2*x-3*4 = 2*x-(5*x+9)

Expand brackets in the right part
3*2*x-3*4 = 2*x-5*x-9

Looking for similar summands in the right part:
-12 + 6*x = -9 - 3*x

Move free summands (without x)
from left part to right part, we given:
$$6 x = 3 - 3 x$$
Move the summands with the unknown x
from the right part to the left part:
$$9 x = 3$$
Divide both parts of the equation by 9
x = 3 / (9)

We get the answer: x = 1/3
